This comprehensive online course combines theory, instructional videos, and practical exercises, covering all the fundamentals of first aid. Delivered entirely online, you can complete it at your own pace, in one session or in parts, wherever and whenever it suits you. Even basic first aid skills can save lives at home, at work, or in public.
The 16-hour course includes all topics from the 8-hour course and goes further, teaching first aid for infants, electrical accidents, chemical injuries and poisoning. You will also learn how to give mental first aid after a crisis and maintain vital functions for those in need at the scene of an accident. The 16-hour course also includes emergency first aid requirements for electrical work.
Target audience
This online training is ideal for anyone and does not require any prior first aid experience or knowledge. It is designed as an introductory course. After completion, you will receive an 16-hour Basic First Aid certification valid for 3 years

How to participate in the Basic First Aid Course
Take the Basic First Aid Course online at your own pace using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. For the best experience, we recommend using the same device throughout and a supported browser such as Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, or Chrome.
Once you order, you’ll receive your participation link and login credentials instantly by email. You have 12 months to complete the course, and after finishing, you can download your certificate as a PDF immediately.
For those with an existing account, simply pick up where you left off and continue your course progress from here.
Updating your First Aid Certificate
It is recommended to refresh your first aid skills every three years with a first aid training to stay confident and prepared. Regular training ensures your knowledge and abilities remain up to date.
Alertum first aid certificates are valid until the last day of the month shown on the certificate, and extensions cannot be granted after expiration. The 16-hour basic first aid course can be renewed once by completing either a 4-hour or 8-hour Emergency First Aid Course. After this short refresher, a full 16-hour basic first aid course must be completed to maintain the validity of your 16-hour First Aid Certificate.
Note: SPR first aid certificates can only be renewed through SPR first aid courses. This training cannot be used to renew SPR certificates.
