This training, which you have enrolled in, is exceptionally implemented with Zoom software. Normally, Alertum’s open webinar trainings are implemented with Teams software. If necessary, you can find the Teams instructions here.

Please familiarize with the confirmation email for specific time table and other relevant information. In this guide, we focus on the technical aspect.

Required equipment

Participants in webinar training must have the following equipment to succeed in the training and make the most of it.

  • headphones and microphone
  • web-camera
  • computer and charger
  • high-quality internet connection

Please note that each participant must attend the training from his / her own device.

Before training

Download the Zoom software to your computer and test the performance following the instructions in this link.

In some rare cases, testing fails the first time. If you get an ”Invalid Meeting ID” error during the test, try restarting your browser or try again later. The error is then at the end of Zoom, and we at Alertum cannot influence the occurrence of the error.

Participate in the Zoom desktop application

You can download the Zoom software here (Zoom Client for Meetings). It is a good idea to complete the download immediately after signing up for the training.

When downloading, the application will ask for your name. Please enter your full name (first and last name).

Participation in the browser version

If it is not possible to install the Zoom program in your device, for example due to corporate practices, you can also participate in the training via a browser. In any case, perform the hardware test well in advance of the training.

If you participate in the training through a browser, please note that Zoom only supports the following browsers. So make sure your browser is up to date.

  • Windows: IE 11+,  Edge 12+, Firefox 27+,  Chrome 30+
  • Mac: Safari 7+, Firefox 27+,  Chrome 30+
  • Linux: Firefox 27+,  Chrome 30+

When you open a meeting, the app will ask you to enter your name. Please enter your full name (first and last name).

Participation on a mobile device

It is possible to complete the training on a mobile device, but we do not recommend it as a preferred option. The mobile device has the same requirements as the computer (camera, microphone and speakers). If you participate in the training on a mobile device (eg tablet, telephone), and the training includes an exam, the exam must be taken on another device (eg tablet, telephone, computer) due to technical issues.

You need to download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app from your app store to your mobile device. For Android devices, the app can be found in the Google Play Store and for iOS devices in the App Store.

At the beginning of training

If you haven’t used Zoom before, join the training about 30 minutes before the beginning, in order to ensure that your equipment is working well. If you use Zoom in daily basis, 15 minutes will be enough to assure your connection.
Join the training in a peaceful space with as little distraction as possible, so you can focus on the training. Quit other running programs on your computer. Participation in the training on a mobile device or in the Zoom browser is not recommended.

Your confirmation message has a classroom link. Click on the link and accept your system’s request to open the Zoom software. Approve the use of your web-camera and check the microphone and speakers.

The trainer will let you into the classroom a few minutes before the training begins. Please note that you can not be late from the training. Being late causes disqualification.

During the training

The following guidelines should be followed during the training:

  • the participant must be present at the start of the training, showing up late will cause disqualification. Check confirmation email to see the start time.
  • the participant should be in the front of the camera, having the camera on throughout the training
  • camera can be closed only during breaks as specifically instructed by the trainer
  • the participant must have an ID, which will be shown to the trainer on request
  • training event will be recorded to prove the attendance of each participant afterward.

Taking the exam

If the training includes an exam (eg. Occupational Safety Card Training), the exam is carried out according to the trainer’s instructions in the browser. No special tools are needed to complete the exam. The participant must have the camera on during the exam.
